Valmiera Joint Library is a new form of cooperation between a city public library and university library in Latvia. In the concept design of an joint library we have considered the trend of merging public and scientific libraries in information society, and applied the experience of integrated city and university libraries in the Nordic countries and in the USA.
The basic principle - legally and financially independent libraries professionally collaborate by coordinating, merging and rationally utilizing informative and personnel resources to extend the offered services.

Implementation of the Project will provide adequate services and life-long learning to everybody including people with special needs.

- Book loan and Interlibrary loal (IL)
- Newspapers and magazines
- Local history collections
- LETA media monitoring
- Electronical catalogue and subscribed databases
- Bibliographic references, reader coaching and consulting
- Literary and educational activities for all ages
- Individual and group reading rooms, computerized reading rooms for children and adults
- Specially equipped computer for people with sight disabilities
- Copying service (copying, printing, scanning, book binding).
